We All Get Wrinkles...
We begin to notice the formation of lines and wrinkles with age. Lines that occur with facial movement and expression and appear to smooth at rest are called dynamic lines.

Repetitive movement of these facial muscles in conjunction with other factors such as volume loss, fat loss, loss of subcutaneous fat, changes to facial bones and loss of collagen and elastin within in skin eventually cause dynamic lines to be present at rest. These are referred to as static lines.

Dynamic lines can be successfully treated with anti – wrinkle injections. These injections work by targeting a specific muscle group to temporarily reduce movement in the treated area, resulting in far less visible wrinkles.
How It Works
These injections work by blocking the transmission of messages between the nerve and the muscles cells. The muscles ability to contract is then decreased, meaning the appearance of existing wrinkles is reduced and the formation of new wrinkles is prevented. We prioritise harmonious results that enhance your facial features with minimal discomfort.

Specifics
Crow's Feet
Lines around the eyes also referred to as smile lines. They often start as small creases around the eyes when you smile, however they can extend laterally and spread down to the cheek area.
Frown Lines
Frown lines are the lines between the eyebrows that can give the look of an ‘11’. If they are present at rest they can make you look mad or stressed.
Forehead Lines
Horizontal lines across the forehead are a result of the frontalis muscle, which is responsible for elevating the eyebrows and is one of the most commonly used facial muscles for expression.
Bunny Lines
These are the lines that form from the creases caused when the nose is scrunched.
Perioral/Smoker's Lines
These are often vertical lines present on the upper lip and are common in menopausal women. They often caused my repetitive pursing of the lips (eg. smoking) but can often occur in those who have never smoked

Every new client of Southern Skin Clinic will require a full cosmetic consultation. This consultation will include clinical photography, skin assessment and facial assessment based on your concerns and expectations. Dr Khossousi and Nurse Wei will then tailor a treatment plan that is specific to you.

The anti-wrinkle injection procedure is relatively fast and involves the injection of very small volumes of fluid into the target muscles using a very fine needle.
​
The treatment generally causes minimal discomfort and often is painless, with some people reporting a stinging sensation. Topical numbing cream and icepacks are available to ease this discomfort however this is often not necessary.
Results are usually seen after a few days with the maximal effect seen at 2 weeks. We recommend a follow up appointment to ensure you are satisfied with your treatment and dosage adjustments can be performed if necessary.
