Skin Needling is also referred to as percutaneous collagen induction therapy. It uses advanced skin technology to induce collagen and elastin production at the skins lower levels, whilst also reinvigorating the appearance of the surface levels.
Dermapen skin needling, is an effective anti-ageing and regenerative skin treatment designed to stimulate collagen and elastin production to improve skin tone and texture. It is extremely effective at supporting skin regeneration, and is often used to improve the appearance of acne scarring, stretch marks and surgical scars.
The Dermapen uses very fine, medical grade needles which are passed across the skin creating micro channels. This controlled ‘injury’ stimulated the body’s natural healing process within the skin, resulting in the production of new collagen and elastin, the regeneration and repair of damaged tissue and visible improvement to skin texture and tone.
The formation of micro channel's also results in improved absorption and penetration of active cosmeceutical products immediately post procedure and in the weeks following.

FAQ'S
Every new client of Southern Skin Clinic will require a full cosmetic consultation. This consultation will include clinical photography, skin assessment and facial assessment based on your concerns and expectations. Dr Ali and Nurse Tess will then tailor a treatment plan that is specific to you.

The application of topical anaesthetic is available however we recommend to abstain from numbing cream if you can do ensure the optimum skin response.

Your skin will be cleansed and prepped, and during treatment the device will pass over your skin with very quickly oscillating fine sterile stainless steel needles to pierce the skin.

Often pressure over the skin can be felt with tickling sensations. The procedure is generally not painful however we appreciate that many clients have different pain and discomfort thresholds to skin needling.
Pinpoint bleeding may be present during treatment depending on the depth of treatment, but no bleeding will occur following treatment.
